In re-living my 2018 through reviewing all the beautiful weddings I was lucky enough to be a part of, I’m overcome with a sense of gratefulness.
I feel endlessly privileged that I am able to do what I love. My days are filled with talking about, thinking about, capturing, and editing some of the happiest moments in your lives. I’m surrounded by joy on a daily basis and it feeds my heart.
We hit some great milestones this year! We won “The Knot Best Of Weddings” award for the 2nd year in a row, and we added a few publications to the list of places we have been featured! I was especially excited to see our Ethical Wedding Inspiration shoot published on Burnetts Boards. That shoot was really special to me. I had the idea marinating for a long time — almost 2 years actually! It was really tough to pull together in a way that was truly ethical: Fully fair trade & sustainable. Thankfully, with the help of some amazingly talented collaborators, we were able to pull it all together and it’s a feature I’m really proud of.
It’s always so very difficult to narrow down images for my annual recap post. Some images I chose for the moment they captured — the look between newlyweds, the love between parents and children, the love between family members bonded by blood or by law. Some images I am drawn to because of the beauty of the image itself — the couple, the dress, the light, the backdrop, the colors all perfectly aligned and pleasingly arranged. Others may be a bit flawed, the composition imperfect and the light not ideal, but the moment itself is too good not to show off. A wedding day is full of moments of each; moments of perfection and moments of mishap — but perfect or not, each moment on a wedding day is worth remembering.
I hope you enjoy viewing these as much as I enjoyed capturing them — although I’m sure that’s impossible. Thank you thank you to all our 2018 team members; Nina, Hannah, Brad, Lin, Mariel, Nathalia, Brooke — I could not have done it without you: Without your help, hustle, enthusiasm, friendship and support. And to my 2018 couples who trusted us with their special day — I will be forever grateful to you for choosing Emily Vista Photography to capture your wedding memories. It was an honor to work with you all!!
